This local and well established Corporate/Home Office has an immediate need for a Senior Level Staff Accountant.
Salary will be commensurate with your skills and experience.
Bachelors and 5+ years experience is required.
Projected Management skills and experience is preferred.
The Sr. Staff Accountant is an individual contributor role, and is an active participant in the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing and reporting processes. A Sr. Staff Accountant should understand and ensure financial statements are in compliance with accounting standards. A Sr. Staff Accountant will also provide information to users that will enable them to make educated business decisions. The successful candidate will demonstrate leadership to support the goals of the Assistant Controller’s organization, be organized and detail oriented, able to adhere to strict deadlines, and maintain a high degree of accuracy…while having fun in the process!
Performs monthly closing activities, including the preparation of: journal entries, account reconciliations, accrual schedules, variance analysis & commentary, and internal financial statements and monthly reporting schedules. Ensures compliance with GAAP and Company policies and procedures.
Plays a key role in maintenance of the general ledger and related reporting systems.
Analyzes financial information, detailing income, expenses, assets, and liabilities and prepare balance sheet, profit and loss statement, statement of cash flows and other reports.
Communicates with operations management to ensure transactions are recorded appropriately and prepares and effectively communicates financial statement fluctuations, identifying root causes for variances and resolution of issues.
Serves as a “go to” problem-solver for the Staff Accountants. Promotes ongoing and timely communication among the team.
Reviews contracts to ensure they are recorded accurately and timely.
Prepares and reviews detailed balance sheet account reconciliations, researching and resolving any discrepancies in a timely manner. Serves as initial reviewer of Staff Accountant’s reconciliations and provides guidance and assistance to resolve issues.
Key and active participant in the maintenance of reporting systems and procedures, working to improve processes through existing software, software enhancements, and/or new software implementation. Identifies and implements solutions to promote efficiency within the accounting department’s processes. This includes playing a key role on the implementation of new or upgraded accounting-related software.
Prepares audit schedules, provides samples and data in support of external audit. Plays a leadership role on the team in coordinating with external auditors.
Assists in the preparation of annual audited financial statements and footnotes, to include preparation, review and tie-out of supporting documentation.
Documents and coordinates implementation of accounting guidance and control procedures.
Identifies, recommends, and implements process improvements across the Assistant Controller’s organization, both individually and through others, promoting consistency and departmental best practices.
Completes ad hoc duties and other special projects, including integration of acquisitions, often fulling role of project manager, as assigned.
Successfully communicate and work with brand presidents, officers, external contacts, and internal departments to perform responsibilities.
Use and continue “paperless” document management systems.
Maintain confidentiality of personal information.
Interface with others in a professional manner and be a trusted go to person.
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Strong knowledge of US GAAP and ability to research, analyze, interpret, and apply technical accounting guidance.
ERP/financial system proficiency
Strong proficiency in Excel, Word; working knowledge of Access.

High computer literacy including strong experience with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook is required.
Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
Must be able to lift a minimum of 25 lbs.

Education & Experience:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from four-year college or university
Experience: At least five years related industry experience. Project management skills or experience a plus.
