GENERAL POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Plan, organize, and direct all the functions associated with the McLennan Community College Adult Education and Literacy Program in compliance with the Texas Workforce Commission Grant. This position receives general direction from the Division Chair of Human Services & Education and exercises supervision over support and professional staff.
NOTE: This is a security sensitive position and an appropriate background investigation will be made on applicants being strongly considered for this position.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
Experience: More than four years of work experience in adult education, higher education, grant and/or public administration, with two years of supervisory experience.
Special Requirement: Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license. Must be insurable and maintain insurability under the College’s automobile insurance policy.
Education: Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
Experience: Two years of professional experience in grant management.
Knowledge of: 1. Adult education and literacy program management including curriculum development, program assessment, and grant administration. 2. Demographics served by adult education and the challenges and benefits associated with serving this population. 3. The impact systems have on marginalized populations. 4. Procedures and processes for secure and confidential record keeping and reporting. 5. Applicable federal, state, and college laws, rules, and regulations regarding Adult Education & Literacy programs. 6. Program budget management. Skills in: 7. Work positively with a wide range of individuals involved in program management and external partners at the state and local level. 8. Effective leadership and management. 9. Grant writing and administration. 10. Navigating computer programs, specifically, word processing, database and spreadsheet maintenance. Ability to: 11. Supervise, manage, and train program staff, instructional aides, instructors, and administrative staff, to include organizing, prioritizing and assigning responsibilities and scheduling work assignments. 12. Establish and maintain positive working relationships with those contacted in the course of work. 13. Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. 14. Utilize, maintain, and manage a database and software programs to ensure compliance with local and state requirements and reporting. 15. Write and/or assist in the writing and procurement of local, state, and federal grants.
Sedentary-Desk work; occasional field trips e.g. for college or program activities. Minimal Hazard/Exposure-Standard office setting. At least minimal environmental controls are in place to assure health and comfort.
