GENERAL POSITION DESCRIPTION:
To provide direction and guidance for implementing activities of the McLennan Educational Opportunity Center (MEOC), which include but are not limited to, providing outreach, financial literacy, and educational guidance to adult learners, annual reporting, budget monitoring, annual programming, staff oversight, and compliance with federal legislation and regulations. This position receives general direction from the Director of Admissions and Recruitment and exercises some supervision over Professional Staff. NOTE: This is a security sensitive position and an appropriate background investigation will be made on applicants being strongly considered for this position.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
Experience: Three or more years of professional work experience in higher education, including supervisory experience.
Experience: Preference will be given to qualified applicants that demonstrate professional or personal experience overcoming similar barriers to the Project Participants.
Knowledge of: 1. Academic advising services, development of individualized service plans, college, career, financial aid and economic literacy services and programming for low-income and disadvantaged college students. 2. Barriers to postsecondary education faced by low-income, disabled, and potential first generation college students. 3. Applicable federal, state, and campus rules and regulations. 4. Principles and practices of administrative organization and management. 5. Basis computer applications, including Microsoft Office. Skills in: 6.Collecting and analyzing data and conducting internal project evaluations (formative and summative). 7. Critically think through complex information/situations and reach resolution. 8. Administering and managing educational opportunity related programs. Ability to: 9. Interpret and apply federal and state regulations and college policy. 10. Plan, supervise, and evaluate the work of others. 11. Manage and expand program partnerships. 12. Develop budgets and monitor expenditures. 13. Communicate effectively, orally and in writing. 14. Provide professional leadership and establish effective working relationships. 15. Travel for work-related meetings and conferences.
Sedentary-Desk work; occasional field trips e.g. for college or program activities. Minimal Hazard/Exposure-Standard office setting. At least minimal environmental controls are in place to assure health and comfort.
