GENERAL POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Promote and represent McLennan Community College in the community through various avenues with the intention of reaching prospective students and guiding them through the enrollment process. Provide additional support to Highlander Central, Call Center, and High School Pathways department as needed, with a focus on Dual Credit Advising. This position receives general supervision from the Coordinator, Student Recruitment & Highlander Central and exercise supervision over support and professional staff.
NOTE: This is a security sensitive position and an appropriate background investigation will be made on applicants being strongly considered for this position.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university. (a minimum of 12 college credits plus relevant work experience may be substituted for required degree).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Experience: More than one year of professional work experience.
Knowledge of: 1. Basic computer programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.). 2. The college admissions process and related areas. 3. How to operate modern technology, social media, etc. 4. The college and the Recruiter’s role in the community while meeting students of various levels and recognizing available resources that suit each individual student. 5. Federal, state, and local policies that affect campus and admissions process (FERPA, etc.). 6. Programs/applications used in the enrollments process (FAFSA, ApplyTexas, TASFA, etc.). Skills in: 7. Analyzing data and drawing sound conclusions. 8. Communicating clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing. 9. Effectively performing, organizing, and prioritizing a variety of duties under time constraints. 10. Public speaking and presenting effectively to audiences of various sizes. 11. Working independently and collaboratively as part of a team. 12. Budgeting and recordkeeping. Ability to: 13. Execute superior customer services when dealing with diverse populations. 14. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work. 15. Guide students through enrollment process, assessing a dual credit student’s future degree plan, etc., using critical thinking. 16. Work evenings and weekends as needed.
Sedentary-Desk work; occasional field trips e.g. for college or program activities. Insignificant effort other than normal movement. Minimal Hazard/Exposure: Standard office setting. At least minimal environmental controls to assure health and comfort.
