GENERAL POSITION DESCRIPTION:
To counsel students seeking financial aid and recommend available alternatives: to process student aid applications; and to develop and award student financial aid packages in accordance with prescribed policies, procedures, regulations and guidelines. Receives general supervision from the Assistant Director of Financial Aid and exercises no supervision.
NOTE: This is a security sensitive position and an appropriate background investigation will be made on applicants being strongly considered for this position.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Associate Degree from an accredited college or university. (A minimum of 12 college credits plus relevant work experience may be substituted for required degree)
Experience: More than one year of work experience in an office environment.
Knowledge of: 1. Students’ rights, responsibilities and obligations regarding financial aid. 2. Applicable federal, state, and college rules and regulations regarding student financial aid programs. 3. Fundamental mathematic principles. 4. Microcomputers and various software programs such as Global online Verification, Colleague, Who’s Next, Perceptive Content. Skills in: 5. Excellent customer service. 6. Productive interpersonal communication. 7. Problem solving and critical thinking. Ability to: 8. Understand, interpret, and apply federal, state, and college policies, procedures, rules and regulations pertaining to the office of Financial Aid. 9. Respond to difficult questions in an effective and efficient manner. 10. Maintain confidentiality of work-related information and materials. 11. Compile and analyze data. 12. Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. 13. Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
Sedentary-Desk work; occasional field trips e.g. for college or program activities. Minimal Hazard/Exposure-Standard office setting. At least minimal environmental controls are in place to assure health and comfort.
