GENERAL POSITION DESCRIPTION:
To arrange for, or prepare and administer, professional development training for the Adult Education and Literacy (AEL) staff (both full-time and part-time). This position develops and maintains professional development records and reports, and is responsible for supporting coordination of data collection and performance reporting on a regular basis. Works independently but reports to the Project Director of Adult Education & Literacy and exercises no supervision.
NOTE: This is a security sensitive position and an appropriate background investigation will be made on applicants being strongly considered for this position.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
Experience: More than one year of professional work experience in professional development or adult learning environment.
Special requirements: Must have and maintain a valid Texas driver’s license and must be insurable and maintain insurability under the College’s automobile insurance policy.

Knowledge of: 1. Principles of adult learning and strengths and challenges of nontraditional adult learners. 2. Principles and practices of adult education and literacy and strategies to foster student success. 3. Curriculum development and instructional design techniques and practices. 4. Adult education professional development requirements and available professional development resources. 5. Data collection and analysis methods. 6. Various computer applications: word processing, spreadsheets, databases – particularly those used by TWC AEL (TEAMS). Skills To: 7. Develop and conduct individual and group presentations, and workshops. 8. Develop curriculum, training materials, and learning activities. 9. Organize and analyze data and prepare reports; 10. Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with tact and diplomacy. 11. Organize and prioritize tasks, handle multiple projects concurrently, and meet deadlines. 12. Work, both independently and as part of a team. Ability to: 13. Develop a supportive relationship with adult education staff and instructors. 14. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work. 15. Interpret and apply college and TWC AEL policies, procedures, rules, and regulations. 16. Formulate and write clear and coherent plans according to guidelines provided. 17. Develop and organize professional development records and maintain confidentiality of those records. 18. Use computer to gather information, submit data, and prepare reports. 19. Travel to class sites in each of the six counties served by this program. 20. Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
Sedentary: Desk work, occasional field trips, e.g. for college or program activities. Minimal Hazard/Exposure-Standard office setting. At least minimal environmental controls are in place to assure health and comfort.
